How does Rhogam work?
What will be an ideal response?
Rhogam is used to treat Rh-negative mothers who have just given birth to Rh-positive infants. This is a solution of antibodies against Rh-positive antigen. It will inactivate the antigen on any of the baby's blood cells that have crossed into the maternal circulation and prevent the mother form becoming sensitized to the antigen. This means that she will not begin to make her own anti-Rh antibodies, and will not put her future Rh-positive children at risk.
