What are alveoli and what role do they play in circulation?
What will be an ideal response?
Alveoli are small sacs in the lungs through whose walls air and other gases are exchanged between the breath and the blood. At the surface of the alveolar sacs, blood flowing through the capillaries comes in contact with fresh oxygenated air in the sacs. Oxygen passes through the walls of the alveoli into the blood while carbon dioxide is discharged from the blood into the air.
