Explain some of the benefits of pretend play

What will be an ideal response?

Pretend play provides young children with opportunities to practice self-regulation. It also supports cognitive development through providing children with opportunities to explore and expand on roles, relationships, and rules. Through pretend play, children expand their behavior based on complicated, constructed scenarios and have the opportunity to practice existing skills of negotiation as well as develop new ones.
