When a patient has a primary and/or secondary insurance, explain why the balance due may appear delinquent even though the account is current (not late).

What will be an ideal response?

The balance due may appear late because there is a lag time between the claim submission and payment from the insurance company. In many cases, until the insurance company pays its portion, the patient does not get billed for the remainder balances—thus, the account is still current, but as many as two to four weeks may have passed for all insurance activity to be completed.
