Discuss how societal factors influence negative aspects of romantic relationships, such as violence

Please provide the best answer for the best statement.

Answer: Most talk about violence in romantic relationships focuses on the behavior of individual aggressors rather than on the social structures that allow abuse. Most people assume that men and women experience equity in their relationships and that men are not abused by their partners. However, the facts are that women typically earn less money than men, are more responsible for children than men, and often are physically weaker than men. These factors seriously compromise how equal women can be in heterosexual relationships and likely account for the fact that far more women are severely injured and murdered by their partners than vice versa. At the same time, little conversation occurs about violence against men; in fact, men who are abused are often ridiculed and stigmatized so that they have few places to turn for help and support. In addition, the ways we talk about romance can encourage acceptance of aggression in relationships. For example, U.S. media frequently portray male aggression as normal and acceptable, as in romance novels, where male aggression is often a central, and recurrent, plot point. The popular image that men have urgent and difficult-to-control sexual drives implies that women are responsible for controlling sexual contact. Thus, more attention is paid to how women behave during unwanted sexual encounters than how men behave.
