Compare and contrast the various pump systems and operating circuits on the heat exchanger system.

What will be an ideal response?

Pump 202 is a horizontally mounted centrifugal pump designed to operate at 225 GPM. Suction pressure is maintained at 40 psig and the discharge pressure typically runs at 135 psig. The differential pressure across the pump is 75 psig. This differential is necessary in order for the system to operate properly. The pressure is obtained as the control valve moves through 30% of its operating range on the discharge side of the pump.
Pump-100 is a vertically mounted centrifugal pump that operates at 625 GPM @ 180ºF. The pump operates in an enclosed circuit that constantly recirculates the hot oil.
Flow from the bottom of the column is used to preheat the feed as it enters Ex-202 shell.
