Describe RtI and assessment for learning

What will be an ideal response?

Response to intervention (RtI) is a set of procedures used to identify students who may need special services because they are not responding well to the regular instruction being provided. School personnel identify students with low learning outcomes, provide appropriate instruction, monitor student progress, adjust the intensity and nature of the instruction depending on the student's responsiveness, and identify students with learning disabilities. Another option, assessment for learning, is made up of three general phases: first, establishing where the students are in their learning; next, identifying where they are going; and last, determining what needs to be done to get them there. Also central to this model is the responsibility of the students in each phase to become self-regulated learners.
