Discuss the four advantages of using CFA models outlined in the chapter.

What will be an ideal response?

CFAs provide an in-depth understanding of the context or conditions that lead to the family’s involvement in the child welfare system. Things like substance abuse, domestic violence, and so on, are taken into consideration. In-depth understanding of the family and the context should lead to better intervention plans. CFAs also focus on family strengths, not just vulnerabilities. This helps utilize what the family already is going for them to remedy the situation. CFAs also provide a baseline from which to measure progress. CFAs can also be used as a check on the child welfare system, to see whether or not the system has been providing appropriate efforts to address the problems of the family.
