Proteins are involved in every bodily function. The vital ones are building and maintaining such as building muscle and bone, creating new tissue, replacing dead cells, providing immunity to the body, along with many others, such as enzyme and hormone production. Dairy, eggs, meat, fish, poultry, and soy are all good food sources of proteins that contain all of the essential amino acids. Incomplete protein sources (those that do not contain all the essential amino acids) include nuts, grains, seeds, and beans.
