Explain "standing." Why it is necessary to contest an illegal search and seizure?

What will be an ideal response?

Standing is the possession of a claim of personal, reasonable expectation of privacy in the thing seized or the place searched. If the person can show no such expectation, then there can be no basis for that person to make a complaint and a motion to suppress the evidence will be denied.
