Discuss how Bowen's reaction series helps explain the composition of many igneous rocks
Some minerals occur together in igneous rocks but others do not. Bowen's observations and laboratory experiments demonstrated that as molten material cools, there is a predictable sequence in which specific minerals crystallize, rather than all crystallizing simultaneously. Therefore, minerals having similar melting points will tend to crystallize together and minerals with very different melting points will not.
