What are the important factors used in defining a biogeographic realm?

What will be an ideal response?

Earth's biogeographic realms is divided geographically based on assemblages of similar flora and fauna. In particular, the biogeographic realm is determined by species distributions and their evolutionary history. This is in contrast, for instance, to the biome concept, which divides the world into large biogeographic regions based on plant communities and determined mainly by vegetation life forms and community characteristics as they relate to climate. A biogeographic realm is a geographic region in which a group of associated plant or animal species evolved. As such, there are two main delineations: zoogeographic realms and phytogeographic realms.
