What is the saturated self? Explain the challenges and benefits that emerge by having a saturated self.

What will be an ideal response?

The saturated self occurs when an individual’s identity is infused with the numerous, and sometimes incompatible, views of others. Viewing ourselves through multiple lenses fractures our sense of a coherent identity and a unified social world. This can cause the dilemma of being influenced by opposing perceptions about our choices and decisions. Advances in communication have also multiplied our opportunities for interaction (face to face, virtual, and imagined), thus increasing the viewpoints we internalize. These advancements can help us develop multiple identities, or versions of who we are.
