How would the critical theory perspective explain the democratic peace?

What will be an ideal response?

The critical theory perspective would argue that the so-called democratic peace is, in fact, a reflection of political, economic, and social forces deeply rooted in history. For example, it may simply be a reflection of American chauvinism or idealism, which seeks to justify or glorify American empire. Or it may be a reflection of capitalism’s coercive penetration of dependent societies. Or it may be a reflection of Western hegemony giving a stamp of approval to societies that follow the foreign policy objectives of Western states (that is, non-Western states that obey what the West calls “democracies”).
