Discuss color psychology and what is meant by a “cool palette” and a “warm palette.”
What will be an ideal response?
The color wheel has two regions of temperature. One side, consisting of blues and greens, provides the
perception of lower temperatures; it feels cool. The opposite side gives the feeling of warmth. This
color psychology is immensely important because it sends powerful messages to anyone who views
them. These colors also suggest temperature. The cooler side of the wheel is calming because it is
reminiscent of the colors seen in the ocean, lakes, sky and glaciers. Hot colors suggest sunlight, fire,
and molten lava.
