What are the advantages and disadvantages of experimental sex research?
What will be an ideal response?
Experimental sex research permits us to make much more powerful statements about the causes of various kinds of sexual phenomena. As for disadvantages, much of the experimental sex research still relies on self-reports. It is also time consuming and costly, and it can generally be done only on small samples of participants. Sometimes in their efforts to control all variables except the independent variable, researchers control too much. Finally, experiments cannot address some of the most interesting-but most complex-questions in the field of sexual behavior, such as what factors cause people to develop heterosexual or homosexual orientations.
