Explain why eliminating test bias is crucial during an assessment
What will be an ideal response?
When test instruments are biased against a certain cultural group, they do not yield accurate results. It is important to review the test to determine whom the test designers had in mind when they created the test. Some bias also presents itself when clinicians ask children to do a certain task, such as pointing to a picture. In some cultures it is inappropriate to tell the clinician something that the clinician already knows. The clinician might see this as a hesitation if he or she is not aware of the cultural background of the client.
