Develop a flow chart showing the steps required to set up and test a newly purchased computer system that includes a computer, mouse, keyboard, speakers, and Internet connection.
What will be an ideal response?
Students should draw the flowchart by hand or should use a computer drawing program or project management software to render it. The flow chart should include the use of proper start/end, process, and decision symbols. Processes could include the following: removing components from the box, placing the computer on a table or desk; attaching the mouse, keyboard, and speaker system; plugging the computer and accessories into a power source; attaching Internet cable to the computer; and turning on all components. A decision box could ask, “Do all the lights illuminate?” If yes, surf to a Web site. Test various software programs. If the answer is no, ensure all plugs are secure and any power strips are turned on.
