What is a compact heat exchanger?

What will be an ideal response?

A compact heat exchanger is one which utilizes designs having large surface
areas in comparison to the heat exchanger volume to allow for greater heat
exchange. This is accomplished by using very thin, highly heat conducting
materials separating the hot and cold fluids, and with flow channels that are
narrow. Compact heat exchangers are usually those devices having specific
surface of 700 m^2/m^3 or higher
