Why are good intentions not enough when applied to ethical situations?

Good intentions are not enough if a psychologist fails to identify ethical situations. Ethic ignorance can and often does harm to others. The psychologist must have a commitment to the Ethics Code, requiring understanding and familiarity with the code, relevant laws, and professional guidelines.
