There are two types of genetic drift. Describe and give an example of the bottleneck effect

What will be an ideal response?

When a once abundant population experiences a drastic decline in its numbers, genetic variability is also reduced. If and when this population increases its numbers, the frequency of alleles will be different from that of the original population simply due to chance. A classic example is the cheetah, as well as the northern elephant seal, and the California condor.
