Many people don’t back up their data until it’s too late. Once they go through a catastrophic loss of all their work, they tend to change their habits. What are some of the better ways to perform personal backups, such as cloud-based services?

What will be an ideal response?

There’s an old saying for data backups: take a “belt and suspenders” approach. That means doing backups using multiple techniques and devices. You can backup critical files to removable storage such as thumb drives. Documents can be backed up over a Wi-Fi connection to a local but external hard drive continuously. The overall system can be backed up to the cloud constantly in the background, ensuring a third level of redundancy.
No matter which techniques are used, be sure to test that the backups can be used to restore lost data. This includes single lost files to full system restores.
