Explain why the cost of selection procedure does not necessarily mean more accurate predictions, as well as how to analyze whether a selection procedure is worth using.

What will be an ideal response?

It is not universally true that if a selection procedure costs more, it is a more accurate predictor of later job performance. Many well-intentioned operating managers commonly are misled by this assumption. Procedures add genuine utility to the employment process to the extent that they enable an organization to improve its current hit rate in predicting success (at an acceptable cost); however, success happens to be defined in that organization. Hence, the organization must assess its present success rate, the favorableness of the selection ratio for the jobs under consideration, the predictive ability of proposed selection procedures, and the cost of adding additional predictive information; then it must weigh the alternatives and make a decision.
