3) What information would you like to get from a potential juror during voir dire?
What will be an ideal response?
Voir dire is the phase during which questions are asked of potential jurors to determine their ability to be impartial judges of the facts of the case. Questions about biases based on ethnicity, race, nationality, age, class, etc. would be significant. Also questions would be asked about family members with similar careers or backgrounds as the defendant. It is a typical practice to ask potential jurors who are related to police officers or other law enforcement officials if their relationship to those people would lead them to put a larger amount of faith in the word of a police officer. Also questions about access to pre-trial media coverage would typically surface. If the case at hand is a capital case, questions to determine if the potential juror is "Witherspoon qualified" would be expected.
