Preschoolers often learn negative behavior from their playmates. Young children acquire most of their social skills through interaction with other children their age. When I was little, I only played with children at the daycare center. Unfortunately, they sometimes adopt undesirable behavioral patterns such as throwing tantrums when they are displeased. If a child witnesses such behavior, the youngster may imitate the act at home, hoping for a similar outcome. Sometimes adults throw tantrums. Another negative trait that is often mimicked is fighting. A child who is bullied or sees aggressive behavior may resort to fighting to resolve disputes as well. Parents must make their impressionable preschoolers understand what does and does not constitute acceptable behavior.
