Describe the process by which children learn two languages, both in the case of simultaneous bilingualism and sequential bilingualism

What will be an ideal response?

Simultaneous bilingualism: children learning two languages at the same time hit language milestones at about the same points as monolingual speakers and keep the two language systems distinct.
They may borrow words or grammar from one language when using the other, but they know the rules of each language remarkably well by age 3 to 4 years.
Sequential bilingualism: children who learn one language first at home and a second language somewhere later (e.g. in school) learn the second language as rapidly as the first providing they have extensive exposure to the second language across home, school, and neighborhood.
