The hypothalamus is involved in the control of the pituitary, the sympathetic division of the ANS, and motivated behaviors including feeding, fighting, fleeing, and mating. Therefore, a situation that might hit on at least three of these aspects would be someone who just finished eating a sandwich (motivated behavior of eating) who encounters a scary situation, like a rabid dog.
