What is DNA? Why is it important? Name the scientists who fi rst described the structure?

What will be an ideal response?

Deoxyribonucleic acid is more commonly known as DNA. DNA
contains the genetic information that enables living organisms to be
formed. It carries the blueprint, or genetic code needed for cells to
undertake the required functions. Every cell in a body contains DNA
in it nucleus. A number of scientists had been working on the genetic
makeup of cells for some time, but two scientists working at the
Cavendish Laboratory in Cambridge, England, described the structure
of the double helix DNA design. James Watson, a biologist from Indiana
University, and Francis Crick, a physicist from Cambridge University, are
credited with the discovery though they acknowledged their work built
on the work on many others.
