An associate is hired to do phlebotomy for the laboratory and is ready to work the first hour that he or she steps into the laboratory

What must be done first?

Before the phlebotomist can start to work, he or she must be trained in safety and competency at the new laboratory he or she is now working for. Even though the phlebotomist may have had several years of experience, the phlebotomist must be evaluated to determine if all the procedures for the new laboratory are the same as for the phlebotomist's previous job.
