What is the main idea behind channel coding? Does it improve the performance of mobile communication?
What will be an ideal response?
Channel coding is a technique used to overcome the deficiencies of the noisy
transmission medium. It basically adds redundancy to the transmitted bits so
that the receiver is able to detect and/or correct the errors in the received
information using the additional bits. It improves the robustness but decreases
the effective bandwidth.
