Describe the basics of an internal evaluation program (IEP).
What are the basic elements of the IEP process?
Discuss some of the ways that an IEP may benefit an aviation company.
IEP is a proactive approach to safety by assessing the state of the departments of an aviation organization with respect to compliance or non-compliance with regulatory agencies and company policies, safety, areas of risk and hazards, areas of deficiency, and other related issues. An IEP should be set up to function as a continuous process of organizational assessment, evaluation, and corrective actions featuring a scheduled series of internal audits and inspections.
System-oriented, independent, goes beyond basic regulatory compliance, has defined responsibility and authority, senior management review, provide feedback, and is a continuous process.
Discussion can include a number of areas but should go toward ensuring regulatory compliance, identify and correct areas of hazard, assessment and mitigation of risk, providing a means of safety assurance and continuous improvement.
