Discuss how school safety/security practices can both help and hinder family involvement in the school and children’s education.

What will be an ideal response?

School safety/security practices can help assure families and show that the school cares about keeping children safe; however, safety procedures may make it difficult for families to even enter the school--lack of proximal parking, identification requirements--and may hamper families from volunteering due to excessive paperwork and the hassle of security practices.
Families whose first language is not English may have difficulty completing paperwork or obtaining adequate identification.
