To what extent is thrill-seeking a motivation behind certain types of property offenses? How might it contribute to the crime of shoplifting?

What will be an ideal response?

For most property crimes, thrill-seeking does not appear to be a primary motivation. A small number of burglary offenders indicated they committed burglary more for the psychic rewards than for the money. Joyriding is a type of car theft that is often committed for fun or thrills. Thrill-seeking may also be a motive underlying arson. Flash mobs engaging in shoplifting may also have a thrill-seeking component, as young people are risk-takers and do things in groups more than adults do.
