More- educated, more-skilled immigrants have higher earnings, pay larger taxes, and are less likely to use public assistance. In addition, highly skilled immigrants will enhance knowledge benefits. Based on these considerations, one can make an economic argument that a receiving country should tilt its immigration policy toward admitting young, educated, and skilled immigrants.
