Can two network interfaces have the same IP address? Why or why not?

Because of NAT, it is possible to have two network interfaces with the same IP
address. These addresses would not exposed on the general Internet, however. They would
exist inside two separate LANs that use NAT internally to route packets within the LAN
from addresses in the general Internet. Absent NAT, IP addresses on the general Internet
are unique; otherwise, routing would not make sense.
