What will be an ideal response?
IPv4 is limited because it uses 32-bit addresses (4 bytes), which means that at some point a network may run out of valid IP addresses. IPv4 is also limited in terms of network security and for implementing more sophisticated routing and subnetting options. Important advantages of IPv6 compared to IPv4 are:
• 128-bit addresses (16 bytes).
• IPsec use is required for security.
• Nonrequired data is stored in extension headers.
• Contains the Flow Label field for better packet flow handling by routers via Quality of Service (QoS).
• Simpler automatic address configuration.
• Routing tables used by routers can be more compact and efficient through using route aggregation.
• Address Resolution Protocol is replaced by Neighbor Discovery protocol.
