What value does rewriting have in research?
What will be an ideal response?
Often it is difficult to determine where to start. Beginning writing with the knowledge that each sentence does not have to be perfect can unburden the writer. Once writing begins, the words begin to flow more smoothly, and a weak beginning can be rewritten to have stronger concepts. Published writing is never a first draft. Researchers write multiple drafts, and may want to create a distinct draft for each audience of the paper. An audience may require a different perspective or a different level of language. There is no one right way to say something. One way may be correct. One way may be interesting. By rewriting concepts, researchers can find the best, most succinct way of writing. Writing, then taking some distance and time from a paper, can allow the researcher to read a piece with fresh eyes and new insight that will help to make the paper between and more efficient.
