Illustrate how and why people learn prejudice

What will be an ideal response

People learn prejudice through socialization and imitating others. In some societies, discrimination is a part of the cultural values expressed. Although people are not born with prejudice, they learn it through association with people around them. A study by Kathleen Blee showed that many women who were members of the Ku Klux Klan and Aryan Nation had been recruited by someone who was already a member of the group. The new recruits were not prejudiced prior to joining these white supremacy groups, but developed prejudicial and racist beliefs after joining.
