Describe how methodology relates to generalization and abstraction

What will be an ideal response?

Methodology is a variable blend of two sources: a systematic generalization and abstraction of lessons learned from the past, and ideas for improving on the past. Methodology is both the most abstract and the most systematic guide to action. Experience does not abruptly turn into methodology, but goes through an evolutionary process that involves many steps, from trial and error to patterns, before it finds a theoretical framework. Since methodology is applied to solving problems that are either partially new or occur in different contexts, revisions and new ideas are always required.
