Prepare an argument for why the following statement is incorrect: The formed elements are the only important part of blood, and plasma is just the water they're carried in

What will be an ideal response?

Although the formed elements perform some of the better-known functions of blood, plasma is much more than just water. It contains nutrients, carries wastes for disposal, and even helps RBCs with the job of gas transport by carrying much of the carbon dioxide back to the lungs. There are important proteins such as immunoglobulins for defense, albumin for maintaining osmotic balance, and clotting proteins. Plasma has carrier molecules such as the LDLs and HDLs that carry cholesterol, and the balance of cholesterol is important in maintaining healthy coronary arteries. Finally, there are electrolytes and hormones, which make use of the transportation system provided by the cardiovascular system.
