Through viral marketing, marketers hope to increase brand awareness or sales by encouraging consumers to pass a message along to other consumers, hopefully in an exponential fashion. Viral marketing tends to include entertaining video clips, interactive games, or other activities that consumers will find so unique and interesting that they'll want to share them with their friends. The trick is producing something that consumers will want to independently pass on through email or social networks. Examples of successful campaigns will vary.
