Technology resources can add value to lesson planning for the Problem-Based Learning model in that teachers can conduct Internet searches to learn about the problems presented to students in class, and to develop a richer set of resources for the lesson. In addition, technology such as concept-mapping tools can be used to guide students through the different stages of the Problem-Based Learning model. In implementing a Problem-Based Learning model lesson, teachers can guide students in using technology tools (such as a blog, database, spreadsheet, word-processing software, website, or wiki) to organize, analyze, document, and share resources in small groups or with the class. Finally, technology tools are useful for the assessment stage of a Problem-Based Learning lesson plan. For instance, blogs, podcasts, video or audio recordings, online survey tools, or audience response systems (clickers) all may be used to help students demonstrate learning or progress in formative and summative assessments.
