What is the Jumpstart Literacy Program?

What will be an ideal response?

Jumpstart builds literacy, self-confidence, language, social, and initiative skills in young children by having them
meet twice a week with college students (called Corps members). A Corps member comes to the child's preschool
for two hours each session for an entire year. The child selects a book and either reads it or has the Corps member
read it to him or her. Corps members encourage the children to think critically about what they are reading and to
notice letters or words. There is also circle time for singing, activities, or reading a book together. Also, there is
choice time.
