Why is plea bargaining often an appealing option in the criminal justice system?

What will be an ideal response?

With a plea bargain, the police and prosecution save time, because there is no need to collect, organize, and present evidence to a jury. If an assistant prosecutor is used in the plea-bargaining process, it frees up the lead prosecutor’s time to focus on serious cases. The judge does not need to preside over a trial, and the defense does not need to organize and present a case in the offender’s behalf. Since there is no need for a trial, the courtroom and its personnel are available for more serious cases.
