List and briefly describe the 3 of the anxiety disorders

What will be an ideal response?

Suggested response:
? Separation anxiety disorder – the essential feature is the individual's
excessive fear of anxiety about separation from home or attachment figures;
? Selective mutism – in social interactions, children with this disorder do not
initiate speak or reciprocally respond when there is the expectation when
spoken to by others but do speak in other situations;
? Specific phobia – the person's fear or anxiety is restricted to a particular
situation or object;
? Social anxiety disorder – also called social phobia involves overwhelming
worry and self-consciousness about everyday social situations; the worry
often revolves around a fear of being judged by others, or behaving in a way
that might cause embarrassment or ridicule;
? Panic disorder – a condition where the person has recurrent panic attacks
during which time 4 (or more) of a list of 13 physical and cognitive symptoms
occur – one can have more than one panic attack (recurrent) that is
unexpected or expected;
? Agoraphobia – seen as a marked, intense fear or anxiety triggered by the real
or anticipated exposure to a range of situations – i.e.: using public
transportation, being in enclosed or open spaces, being in a crowd, or being
outside of the home alone
? Generalized anxiety disorder - involves excessive, unrealistic worry and
tension, even if there is little or nothing pointing to provoke the anxiety;
? Substance/medication-induced anxiety disorder – panic attacks or anxiety
are prominent features due to the effects of a substance or medication;
? Anxiety disorder due to another medical condition – the anxiety disorder is
best explained as a physiological effect of another medical condition;
? Other specified anxiety disorder – used when the person does not meet full
criteria for any of the disorders
? Unspecified anxiety disorder – used when the person does not meet full
criteria and the practitioner chooses not to specify the reason criteria are not
met;
? Note that "panic attack" is a specifier
