Choose three countries or regions discussed in the text and explain how and when child maltreatment emerged within each region or country.

What will be an ideal response?

In the Middle East, awareness developed after the Turkish Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect was formed in 1998, and Israel hosted an ICSPAN regional conference in 1999, which attracted a number of delegates from Eastern Europe. Australia and New Zealand’s emerging awareness mimicked the United States with medical publications on the issue in 1965 and 1966, which put pressure on the government to take responsibility and the first mandatory reporting law in 1977 in Australia. In India, child maltreatment has focused on child labor, prostitution, and child marriage. It was not until 2007 that intrafamily abuse was a public focus, when the Ministry of Women and Child Development released a report that showed widespread abuse.
