• Removing wilted or withering leaves, flowers, and stems using sharp scissors or shears
• Pinching out new growth if plant is getting spindly or thin
• Staking when young to avoid crooked stems
• Dusting so the stoma is not blocked
• Loosening soil around the base to allow air to enter and water to percolate through it
• Misting with a diluted solution of mild dishwashing soap and water to control insects
