Can the United States still be considered the only superpower? Why or why not?

What will be an ideal response?

An ideal response will:
1, Provide reasons why the United States might be considered the only superpower, such as its preeminence in the four key areas of global economics, diplomatic and cultural influence, and military power.
2, Explain why the United States might not still be considered a superpower, using such things as the rise of China, the challenge to our resources posed by the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and the increased freedom of our allies in the post–Cold War context.
