Some countries prohibit Muslim women from wearing the Burqa and Niqab in public while other countries legally mandate it. What are the arguments for and against the diffusion of this clothing practice?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Those who argue to retain the ban suggest that the coverings deny women identity of their own and treat them as second class citizens. The ban itself protects gender equality and seeks to protect the dignity of women. There is also the argument that complete covering of the face poses a security threat by preventing identification of an individual. Those who seek to lift the ban prohibiting wearing the burqa and niqab argue that the government should not interfere with determining women's clothing preferences and effectively the ban shows lack of understanding of Muslim cultural traditions. They also argue that the ban infringes on women's religious, free speech and privacy rights.
