If you were going to create your own police organization, what type of management would you prefer: mechanical or humanist? Explain why
If you have trouble subscribing completely to either view, specify what mix of mechanical and humanist concepts of police organization would perhaps work best.
The mechanical approach fills positions with police officers with little regard for the personal qualifications of the person; in short, just get the job done. The humanistic approach calls for the filling of positions based on skills and talent of the individual.
We lean more towards the humanistic model in that policing is slowly becoming a profession and job qualifications are important for patrol work, specializations, and administrative functions.
